I have a 2007 PT Cruiser. The speedo is inoperative. the vehicle does not have ABS. The pcm another shop installed is looking for ABS to drive the speedo.. ... will a reprogram remedy this? I usually just install used pcms and have encountered this from time to time. DREWtech now says we can flash these so before i paid i wondered if i could get some feedback on this..

i have a DRB3 and autel scanners. DRB twont work on it and autel doenst have a way to set pinion factor. IT has a code u1221 lost wheel speed message
i think donor vehicle had abs this one doe not. how do you tell this pcm
that it needs to look at trans speed sensors for speedo? Rusty

Look under the transmission menu for the pinion factor setting. Flashing the PCM to the correct calibration should take care of the code but you'll want to set the pinion factor anyways. It would be helpful to have the old PCM so you could see the proper calibration part number. The Flash programming menu has options with or with out ABS. Chrysler was never too up on things, enter the vehicle VIN and it still gives you 10 to 20 program files to choose from.

thanks for the info Bob. I don't have original computer. Another shop changed the pcm and I don't have original. The PCM has the car running ok but no speedo. Are you saying without calibration I may have to flash a couple of files until I stumble upon the one for no abs, or will the selection of vin send me to the right choice? Thanks again......... Maybe you just got to try another used ECM from one without ABS.I imagine close to half the PT Cruisers produced are in the junkyard already and should be plentiful , just cross your fingers the remaining half on the road aren't looking for a donor for the same part.

In order to know the correct calibration, you need to enter the VIN in Tech Tools so that all module Cals will be listed. Then you could download the correct PCM Cal and flash it to the PCM using your Jbox and the Chry J2534 app. You will just need to edit one of the downloaded files so that that the J2534 app will change the Cal instead of just updating it. Since the proper use of the J2534 app only allows the updating of Cals and not changing them. This would only work correctly if both PCM have the same hardware.

I tried to edit the file. I couldn't get it to wipe the current configuration. It kept saying the latest software was already installed. I got the file explaining the procedure. Tech10, have you ever done this before with used pcm?

Yes many times. Editing the file in notepad, generally you overwrite a previous Cal with the current Cal of the USED module that you want to change the Calibration on. It sounds like you did not edit the file correctly. What is the current Cal on the used PCM you intent to flash and what is the correct PCM Calibration for the VIN?
