I have a customer that has replaced an ECM with a used unit on a 1999 Explorer. I am using a PTP2 to try to program this ECM with the latest calibration. It will not program in the normal way. Can anyone tell me how I direct the FMP program to use as-built data. I see where the as-built data is accessed on the Motorcraft website but I don't see how to direct the program to use as-built data. I would also like to find a user guide for FMP if it is available. Anyone?
Replacing ECM and program

I'm assuming he will have to fool the SW into thinking the PCM will not communicate and have the SW perform a full initialization and program.Comment

I also had a 2000 Ford explorer and had swapped the ecm with a used part. after several attempts to programed I found that the hardware# for this ford was different than the original. note the harware# for the ecm you have and make sure the replacement is the same, otherwise you will never get it to program. Ford explorer uses many different ecm used. once I located the correct ECM it was programed without any issues. good luck.I have a customer that has replaced an ECM with a used unit on a 1999 Explorer. Yes - The pt # was different. The wrecking yard had written on the module that it was from a 1999 Explorer also. So I programmed the Pats and the engine starts and runs and doesn't seem to set any codes. My only job was to program the module. I told them that the module was the wrong PT# and some things may not operate properly but they decided to TRY it as they had only paid $75 for the module. So - I guess they will try it and see. The truck is a bit of a wreck so I don't think it will be operational for long anyway. Thanks for your help guysComment

You can do it with your PTP, FMP and an active reprogramming subscription. Some aftermarket scan tools can perform PATS programming without FMP or subscription (Snap On isn't quite there yet...).
Ford has published a pfd document which explains the necessary procedures, broken down by make and model: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdi...ts_job_aid.pdf-Kai-

Yes - Orevin is correct - I used my PTP II and FMP. I also use the Pats Job Aid . It is great for identifying keys, describing procedure required etc. Ford and GM do not require locksmith credentials to do security programming - sweet!Quote:
