Ok, so I called the GM SPS technical support line to see what the warning on the Saturn BCM programming is all about. (The warning does not come up on my screen any more) Of course it was too late, I had already destroyed a new BCM (educational expense). The reason has to do when a new BCM is being set up to learn the pass lock. I did not catch everything he said, I'll include more later when I try again this time with support on the phone. The new BCM will have to have a VCI code entered into it before you attempt to do the initial 10 minute theft relearn and he will lead you through the process. If this is not done first the new BCM will not be able to learn or transmit the new information to the ECM. This will result in a P1630 in the ECM and a no start. I don't think that this applies to installing a used BCM as I was able to successfully do this. Strange thing is that the tech support guy told me that is was not possible to install and flash a used BCM to a Saturn ION. A used BCM will learn in an ION just doing the 30 minute relearn. Not only was I able to relearn the Pass Key but was also able to reconfigure it to the options that the vehicle was equipped with. Forgot to ask about the programming the mileage, next time.

Bob,
Is there a chance your GM dealer would take that "Damaged" BCM back? I have seen that warning every time I log into SPS, actaully twice each time.
You can suppress the message but I don't, I figure I may get one in. Not long ago we had an Ion come in that the lockcylinder and housing had to be replaced and I had to do a theft relearn, that went well.
Do you use the special "Red connector" for Saturn reprogramming with the Tech2or just the MDI ?
Please fill us in on the details after you call the hotline back, I would like to hear all that you can offer.
Thanks, Bob -
I'm using the PTPII. I have access to a Tech 2 if I need it but don't have the flash cable for it. I've been using the Tech2Win lately but you can't flash through that. I'm hoping that this won't be a problem when I also asked him the requirements for the Techline support and it is true that they only support Windows Seven. It's not that XP doesn't work but if there is a problem encountered the support will end if it's an XP problem. Here is the requirements. When opening the GM TDS it's a good idea to click on the systems reguirement tab before logging in, a lot of good info in there.Attached FilesComment

Try this!
Before you begin, make sure that you PC have following requirements:
1) Turned off antivirus
2) Turned of Firewall
3) And last and most important! Check the latest version of Java on www.Java.com
I have Java 6 Update 21. After update to version 7 update 9 ECM was successfully programmed. If you want to donate me, ask how!Comment

Cool !!!! I finally got this thing. New BCM installed, correct mileage, odometer works and all the other options work. I'll post all the steps in the near future, or atleast as close as I can remember them. I was trying to write them down as I was performing them and talking to tech support, confusing. All good now and on to the next challenge. an Aveo that was struck by lightning !!!Comment
