    1998 Dodge Intrepid Used PCM

Hello guys, I have this Dodge here and I replaced the PCM with a junkyard one. After trying to start it a few times, the car cranked and started, but died after 2 or 3 seconds. Now, it won't do anything. I tried flashing the PCM with the correct part number and writing the VIN since the old one had a different one. Still nothing. I know that if you replace the BCM and PCM, the car will start no problem. I also tried the leave the key switch on for an hour and it's suppose to come out of some sort of stuck mode. Just want to know if I did something wrong. This car does not have SKIM. The key is black. Also, it has a 3.2L, Federal Emissions. Anything else to try would be appreciate it. If i missed something or anybody needs more info, please let me know. Thank you. Regards Chavez.

I guess the question is "did the ECM come from a car that had SKIM"?. There are some other posts on hereb if you go back a ways concerning erasing the SKIM from the doner ECM before attempting to start or even allowing it to communicate with the BCM. If I recall when you install an ECM with SKIM to a vehicle that did not have it with out first erasing it, the BCM will now be looking for a SKIM key and will disable the engine until it sees it. But I could be wrong. Any codes ? Here is the link to the earlier thread concerning skim erase http://productforum.autorepairdata.c...ead.php?t=4843

YES!!!! This worked for me. Thank you greasybob, the link you provided had the same problem and I solved it following the steps. I never knew that SKIM reset would tell the PCM to forget about the SKIM. I'm just confused as to how the BCM works in all of this. Does it also look for SKIM? or just the PCM?
Either way, the problem was solved. I also found out that someone must've installed a PCM with SKIM, then when I tried to install my used PCM without SKIM, the BCM was looking for SKIM? So confusing. Anyways, thank you for your help!!! Regards, Chavez.
