Modis Lab Scope for CKT POS Sensor

How do you set up the modis to read a crankshaft position sensor graph?

Go into component testing, it will take you step by step.

I tried that and its not really telling what settings or anything. I got an erratic reading instead of a square wave pattern.

what year/make/model are you trying to scope? try a 50 or 100ms capture on the 20 volt scale to see if anything shows up. adjust from there.

A "graph" of a pid is accomplished by going to toolbox at top right, create custom list of only the pids needed, go to tab all the way to left at top (i believe marked text or graphs perhaps). Pick # of graphs you want then choose your pid to graph.

If a waveform is what you want (and it is the most useful data for diagnosing crank/cam sensors), then pick lab scope. Generally, some experimentation is required to dial in the settings for a given waveform. Arrow down and turn on/off the desired channel. Exit buttons using "no". Go left/right and choose setting to change w/ yes, then up and down with thumb. Try 12 volt and 500ms and see how that looks. If you have IATN or Ask a Tech, you can look at some example waveforms and their settings. Sometimes these saved waves are all you have to determine right from wrong. A huge tool indeed.
