Boss's grandson swapped in a new engine from Oreilly, then truk sat in barn for a year. Then liftgate acess open msg appeared, which caused the cargo lites and the 2 front map lites to stay on. I decided to buy it. Boss drove 25 miles to my house to pik me up to work on it and take it home. Was downhill to highway bout 1/2 mile. Got on highway and took off like normal, but no go! Stuk in 1st gear. I pull over ck fluid, not on stik! Go bak to shop add fluid, take off again, same thing. But full of fluid. Boss already left hour before. Oh boy. Its bout 4:30, I decide to limp it home, its rural all the way. Manually inv1st it was normal, trans/engine braking, but in any other gear it freewheeled. So I had to rev up to 4,-5k to hit 35-38 mph, then let it coast down to bout 25 n do it over again. Got home after dark Put scanner on it next day. Codes U1000 and U1300 among a few others, but a lot of missing data. Obviously. Anyway, after accessing splice pakv205 under drivers dash, I found 2 engine bay grounds in wrong place. On firewall instead of the bak of the head. Fixed that and cleaned the 2 on the front frame on each side. No more U codes and got more data. Liftgate msg changed to replace liftgate fuse, which isn't a fuse, its the relay, so got that figured out. Data saz trans is shifting, not in limp mode. Just nothing to shift to! Someone I think ran it with not enuff fluid and toasted the clutches. Fluid smells burnt. Got bcm data now, but I don't see pcm anywhere and why are there no transmission codes? Doesn't the tranny module know that somethings drastically wrong? So I think there is still some missing communication. Dnt know where to go from here. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks all!

With the 4L60 you can certainly have a burned up trans and no trans codes. If you only have 1st gear, then you are most likely going to be fixing the trans. If the PCM wasn't connected to the trans you'd have 3rd and reverse, and that's it.
