    Euripean Coverage

Hi I just got 6.4 update and have a real problem trying to deal with european cars. Does snap on has a special cartridge that covers, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche, Renault, Peugeout, Rover, and Opel cars. Rather than going diagnosing on the OBD II Generic? Any one knows?

Buy an update 7.2 or 8.2(this spring) from Sun-Diagnostics and you'll get the coverage. Around 1000 euro.

Is this the UK version Modis? I have 7.4 and it does not have the Euro coverage your 7.2 shows. As per this forum, S.O. did not have plans for Volvo in the near future.

Yep, this is the Great Britain version of the Modis offering, and before you ask why the Great Britain version has it and the US market does not I will tell you.

It's all about communications protocols and speeds. The same model that is sold in the UK and the US may and often does, have different features, communicate at different baud rates and have different protocols. So what is good for the UK is not good for the US, in most cases. Modis is marketed under the Sun Diagnostic brand in the UK.

Then why was there a "USA" option for the Volvo???

                    Just another question.

Do all the vehicles currently on the Modis or Solus, use the same baud rate and same protocols? NO!
So how does that statement affect availability

                    Just asking.

Here are more snapshots for the Volvo coverage.
As you can see the European and USA markets are different.
The coverage is poor (Powertrain and Service interval only), but Sun says that they'll keep on working on Volvo coverage. It appeared in Bundle 7.2.
Sun Modis update releases once a year. Next update is going to be 8.2 I guess and it should be available for sale on February or March like this year.
For euro cars the bundle missing coverage for HDI diesel engines. I hope next year they'll fix the problem.

i think its for the same reason as us in the US having options for euro lhd and euro rhd on vw/audi. imported vehicles - meaning vehicles not originally made for this country.
