    Idle relearn on nissans

I had two nissans one an altima 2003 and a maxima 01.
I noticed there is no idle relearn in the scanners software
had to send cars to nissan. Will there be one in the next upgrade

I know this is a reply to an old post, however I had a 2002 Altima come in from another shop today with a bad Idle surge after they cleaned the throttle plates. Couldn't use my Modis to do a idle air volume relearn, had to use one of my other (much lower dollar!!!!) scanners. This is a VERY COMMON procedure, needs to be done any time a ECU is replace, Throttle body is replaced or even cleaned. This is a very common 6 year old vehicle, I would REALLY like to see this within the next couple of updates!!!

I used AE as well, but what did you use your wallet for

It's something I thought up to restrict the airflow and lower the idle. It hurt to use my hand

Try retarding the timing, the last one had a BAD idle surge. Retarding the timing smoothed it right out and brought the idle speed down enough to set the relearn. After exiting the entire menu timing was right back to 15 degrees. You never know if your not careful it might suck some of that hard earned cash right out of your wallet

                With a scan tool.

                  Matt,

You can retard timing enough to bring the RPM from over 1600 to below 1100...WHILE performing a Idle Volume Relearn?

                  Thanks

                    Doug

AE has the timing correction in the same menu as the idle air volume relearn and idle speed correction. It did not take more then a few degrees of correct to stop the surge and lower the speed, MUCH less then you would think!!! Took me a long time to figure that out after SEVERAL failed attempts at using AE to perform the relearn. It was really a mistake (fat fingered the keyboard ) that had me firgure it out. Try it next time you get one try it. If you want call me at work when you get one and I'l walk you through it.
