    MT2500 vs Solus

I have a MT2500 and really have no major complaints besides it just went out and now i need to either purchase another mt2500 or upgrade to the Solus? Can the Solus do everything that the MT2500 was able to do, will i be able to see trans data? and everything my mt200 did ? is there any draw backs to the Solus when compared to the mt2500??? Any information would be helpful.

Also I have a friend with a Solus that he wants to sell for 500 bucks, it was purchased in 2005 and was wondering what it will cost to get the latest and greatest software and from what i have been told this unit will not need the cartridges ??? so is it one price and you get everything needed for Asian, domestic cars ??? will the new software allow one to connect to an early model OBDII system as the mt2500 did?

Ok .. i know thats alot of questions but i have the chance to buy another mt2500 or a solus for the same price. whats your thoughts ?? t

thanks in advance for your help

    Hi Kerry,
Welcome to the site. The MT2500 is a good scan tool the only negative is that you can no longer update the software or get the unit repaired. The Solus will perform all the functions of the MT and you will be able to update it regularly, the software updates cover all vehicles that Snap-on supports. If you purchase the 10.2 update you will have vehicle coverage from the 80’s up to 2009 for vehicle communication and up to 2008 for Troubleshooter. Depending on your needs I would go with the Solus. FYI all of your connectors and cables you have for the MT will work on the Solus, check with your dealer on pricing for the Solus updates.
    Hope this helps
