    Modis HD Any Good?

    Hi:

I am thinking about updating to HD on my Modis. I have 10.2 installed for dom / asian cars. I have 2 questions:

    - Is the HD worth getting? I don't have a specific fleet I'm working on right now but I occasionally get calls for MD truck work.

    - Does the HD update simply unlock the software already in my tool or does it overwrite my existing software?

    Any help is appreciated.

The Modis communicates with heavy duty trucks in HD Standard format. If you don't know what that includes, I recommend getting a demo of it before making a purchase. Some guys are happy with it, and some are not.

FYI, There is a new HD Standard for 2010 and Modis will not be updated to communicate in this protocol. Also, there are no guarantees that the Modis will work on Medium Duty trucks. The only way it will do it is if that vehicles communicates in HD Standard.

      Thanks Joe.

Can you tell me if the software is already installed with 10.2? Or will it be installed when purchased. I am not sure if I should hold out till 10.4 or 11.2 then get everything updated.

It doesn't matter how you do it. HD Software is not updated and operates the same regardless of which version Modis Software you're running.

          Don't Get it...

We have had Modis HD for years, and it is basically useless. Get another medium/heavy truck scanner, such as a Pro link or IQ scan.

We have the factory software (International, Cummins, CAT, Detroit, Allison, Bendix & Webco ABS, etc.) on laptops.

It's the only way to go.
