    SOLUS Ultra 11.4

Someone has offered me one of these in trade for a 93 gsxr 750 I have.

My concern is that it's only running software version 11.4. Was there a huge gap between 11.4 and 15.2? Would it be reasonable to just acquire this thing and use 11.4? Maybe there is a data somewhere showing the compatibility and test availability information specifically for software version 11.4?

I have VCDS currently and have always wanted something that would work with other makes/models

    Thanks in advance

You can update to current level software (15.2) for about $1000. The difference between the two levels is quite large.

I think unless your GSXR 750 is in Ratty Condition you would be better off holding off on that deal. Used Solus Ultra's are in the $2K range with 14.4 update level, but Used GSXR 750's are in the $3K to $4k asking range.
You would take a $1K beating on the bike (even if Solus Ultra was at 14.4 update level. You certainly will take another $1k beating to update it , or even more if the European coverage is not unlocked. If the bike is still nice , I would sell it for $3000- $3500 cash and get myself a Solus Ultra with a higher update level and a Vantage Pro. A Maxi Sys Pro is also very nice but lacks the troubleshooter and guided diagnostics component testing like the Vantage pro offers (as far as I know )comparing Vantage Pro 2 channel scope with the Autel MP408 4 channel optional scope.

I would ask your Snapon rep about update pricing, I believe 1k is a bit high. A lot of back filling and new test have been added since 2011.

That is true. I believe The price of a year of updates for the Maxi Sys Pro with the J2534 VCI is whopping $1200- $1300 which is about $500-$600 more than the DS708 or Maxi Sys mini, but gives you access to OEM programming files from an Autel Server for the J2534 programmer. I think you might be better off using the j2534 device off a laptop with a purchased OE subscription. I think Autel pulled the access to most of the GM files from the server because GM likely baited them to copy a corrupted data base. Fortunately for them the J2534 device seems to be working from a laptop with a paid subscription though, LMFAO
