The update will be a big part of the price. The expensive part of the scanner is the software. Other than that, I don't think it is different than buying anything else online.

I was just wondering if there was a way to run the serial number with snap on to see if its reported stolen or for repo

        Contact SNAP ON

I would Contact SNAP ON and ask them the same question you posted. If it is stollen or in the repo file you may never be able to buy an update. There are a lot of scammers lurking on Craig's list. Also I would not exchange any money with the seller unless you are able to give the scanner a test run....Just my .02 cents on the question.....

I was curious about this question since I bought my SOLUS ULTRA off Ebay. I called Snap ON tools and they were able to look up my scanner via serial # and verify that my scanner had no money owed and was not reported stolen. So the answere to this question is YES, it can be done........
