    VIN/mileage writing to ECM

I cannot find the VIN # edit to write to ECM on a 98 Dodge Ram 1500. I have 12.2 EURO installed on my Solus Ultra. Is this option only available on the 12.4 software version ? Thanks in advance for any replies that may shed some light on this subject.....

If the VIN is already in the PCM, the option won't show up. You can't overwrite the VIN if you install a used one. Thats a Chrysler thing.

List of NO WRITE vin #s to PCM

Thanks for the quick reply SKIP. Is there a list of all the year/make and models the solus ultra can write vin/edit #s to? Or do you know of any more car makers that have the same NO WRITE vin #s to PCM ?

I don't have any kind of list but I would bet any Mopar with an SBEC or JTEC or NGC controller would work. CAN bus cars will get a bit sketchy.

AFAIK all Chryslers from ~86 on have vin in the PCM and once written cannot be rewritten, hence no option for it...

If you replace the PCM, with one thats blank, the option will show up. Ive done MANY with my scanners, including the old skool MT2500...

Once it has a vin written, you CANNOT rewrite it via your scanner.

I never tried via 2534/techauthority tho.....

I've rewritten VIN numbers with a DRB III. So to say a Chrysler VIN can't be rewritten is incorrect. Saying the Snap-On tool can't do it is more correct.
