Hey everyone.
I have just been through this!
I pulled my Modis Ultra down to clean some corrosion off the board, and pulled the CMOS battery to test it's voltage while i was in there.
Following this the date set back to 1970 and told me I needed to register my software, meaning 2x 30sec waiting screens before being able to scan a vehicle.
I thought I'd connect to Shopstream Connect to see if I could change the date, immediately Shopstream advised me to reboot the tool to complete the update, essentially bricking the scantool!
After a lot of mucking about I managed to atleast get the tool "usable" again.
Take a backup of your SD Card to your computer, just incase.
In the main directory of the SD Card, delete the file called UPDATELI.YES
Navigate to /Scanner/Software/ and delete the file called UPDATELI.YES
(these folders may be hidden so you may have to "show hidden folders" - search the web to figure out how to do that on your version of windows)
Reinstall the card and it should come back to life!
I found these by looking on the SD Card for the most recently created/edited files
Good luck!
