    exhaust filter cleaning????

VIN #1gt120c84cf109448 2012 gmc sierra with 6.6 13.4?version solus ultra

Went to manually regen exhaust filter, It started out o/k but kept vehicle @ 3k rpm for an hour(scanner says it may take up to 20min). I exited out and tried again , then it the screen said something like "timed out" after 45min.

Is there a bug in this?? I know I have had some rke stuff say "no communication " after ya press learn new fobs but they program o/k.

lemme guess.... fixed in the next update?

      Regeneration Problem

I have had Regeneration taking over an hour.
I think your regeneration problem might be the DEF Fluid Problem.
Does this truck have any DTCs .
The DEF Quality test takes up to 70 minutes
I do not advice you to abort a Regeneration test, might cause damage to Turbo.

          Hi Monza,
You're not going to get a Tech Support answer on the forum here. A problem might get reported, but you won't get a reply.
I've never seen a regen go an hour on anything, and I've commanded them on GM, Ford and Dodges without any troubles...except when you try to command a regen on a Ford that doesn't require it. Unfortunately I can't tell you what happened. There is a possibility that it isn't the scanner. It doesn't run the test. It just tells the PCM to do it. If I had to guess, and I do here, maybe it needed a really long regen. It was aborted before it was finished, and only needed a few more minutes when it was commanded a second time. If it happens again, call Tech Support while you have the scanner connected to the vehicle. Hopefully they will be able to get a better answer.

            tech answer.

You are correct in that I won't get any tech answers here. Mostly I get the company line of "it'll be fixed in the next update".

I have tried this re-gen on other gm trucks after this post and they end up with the same thing.

As far as it being sooted up, yup, EVERY light was on in the dash- save the def fluid(he actually had that filled!) after filling the oil , airing up the tires and checking the "exhaust filter needs cleaning" on the display. I pulled the codes, p2463- filter soot accumulation. I had to drive several times while clearing the codes until the "reduced engine power" went off the display. at that time there were 18g of soot in filter according to the scanner.

After the snap on took forever, it was at 17g. after the tech 2, 8g. software version 13.4
It is frustrating to pay for something that has a button to press that DOES NOT WORK.

I have used the regen test several times with success, the timed out message may be from the pcm not seeing the right changes in the temp sensors or grams reading. the pcm will not let you perform a second manual regen without a cool down or a certain amount of key cycles if I remember right.

Not really up on Diesels, how the exhaust cleaning fluids are ulilized and DPFE regeneration stuff , but it kinda sounds like it could be used as a lame excuse for Rolling Coal in front of a Prius I suppose.
Just watched a You tube vid to get a an idea of why Diesel Fumes make me so Horny and but I only go short time before I need long Regens

lol...witsend If you ever see a 2008 or newer diesel rolling smoke there is no way they have a dpf filter. unless its cracked they have removed it.
