How to update Classic Verus, XP

Hello all I have a Classic Verus (EEM323) with SP2 looking to get this updated (SP3, ect) as far as I can, I call the tech support line (No help at all) they said I had to send it in and have it re imaged?

I have tried Shop stream connect ect, Browser issues, IE6...
I have installed Firefox and made it the default browser, but snap-on keeps opening IE6

Also running 14.2.1 software.

Does any know?

They have disabled windows updates on Verus. Since this is XP embedded MS still supports updates. You just need to find hidden ways update was turned off. Do a google search. Not sure if XP embedded has a SP3 available.

Back when I had my original verus, I did just what your talking about. I'm sorry, I don't remember how I did it. I'll be thinking about it, if I can remember, I'll post back up on here. I will warn you though, I was disappointed with the results. If I remember correctly, it slowed the tool WAAAY down, to the point of being unstable. I never took the time to try to figure out exactly which windows update caused the issue, I just re-imaged it so I could restore functionality. I no longer have the tool, I've upgraded to the verus pro.

Edit: One thing I do remember is that it was done through the windows registry. Have you ever used RegEdit? I wouldn't poke around too much until you find the exact instructions. There's an option in there somewhere to re-enable windows update

Ok thanks, Let me look at this a different way, I need to get a web browser that works and is secure, any Ideas.

I installed firefox but inside the scanner it still tries to use IE6.

I would suggest that anyone considering doing this download this stuff ASAP. Who knows how much longer MicroSoft will keep these web links alive.

On a 9 year old platform with only about 256 mb of ram If you were to upgrade the memory to it's greatest level of only about 1GB, then clone the drive , and install a SSD before you can even make it marginally bearable for todays internet demands, then were to send it in for a reimage , you really have to AXE yourself how much will I be into this thing before the 15.2 update ?
Can't you just deny the POS any further internet access and just continue to use it as a scanner and scope and use a laptop PC on your toolbox to access Suretrack, MOD, etc,

I agree a memory upgrade +SSD is way to go. Your verus can reimage itself from hidden D drive, just need a usb keyboard.
