    Verus vs. Modis

We got a Verus recently, but the Modis hasn't been taken in on trade yet... I almost want to keep the Modis instead. Granted, we just got this thing, so I've got to get a little more streamlined with it. That being said, I can't help but get a little annoyed at how long it takes to boot up, how often it crashes, and how crude the datastream graphs are compared to the Modis. We did a side by side comparison: 2000 F-150, live data in global, custom data list with ONLY throttle position selected, in graph. The Verus graph is like an old Atari game, with at least 2 seconds of delay and very crude resolution. The Modis beautifully portrayed every whim of my right foot in perfect time, with great detail. This alone is enough to give us cold feet-- I'm just wondering if I'm missing something.

I dint think your missing anything my verus data-stream graphs are also very slow there is the sr1 update already so it looks like they are trying and im hoping with the next one they will address the slow data-stream. for now when i think i might miss something i set the trigger pids and record/save the data.

hey guys i would like to ask u what was the problem with the modis? did it not get the job done? i still have the old brick(7.4 software) and it gets the job done. the old vantage made me lots of money; the only reason i traded it was because i found a v-pro for half price from a closing business. my thinking when purchasing a tool is how long will it take to recover my money and will it get the job done. at one time the modis was the top dawg; what happened? will the verus fix more cars?

There is nothing wrong with the MODIS. It has the same software as the VERUS and it all works(aside from a few glitches) better than it seems to be working on the VERUS. The VERUS is going through "growing pains" similar to what the MODIS went through when it first came out ......

I will probably be trading my MODIS for a VERUS once it seems the platform has been fixed/stabilized.......

If you have good internet access, a printer, and customer info within close range, then the Modis is still the top dawg, from what I can tell. The "all in one"-ness of the Verus may be its major flaw.

              Both have a place

Both have a vitial place In the industry. The verus is a good all in one for the aftermarket guys who can't fill there tool box with oem scanners. The modis is still the work horse for bigger shops with lots of tech terminals to go around, but for me and my small shop the verus with everything on it is a perfect fit (not a perfect tool, but with service releases it will be better). The modis had issues too when it came out (and the service packs for that were far from free). Give it a chance to grow, and I think you like it too.
