    6.0 air test

Is there any way to do the Ford 6.0 power stroke air test to conferm that the high pressure pump is ok? The test states that with shop air supplyed to the high pressure oil rail you are to comand the oil pressure regulator closed and listen for air leaks.I can't see to find the apps for this test with my Verus.I have tried through the Globle OBD control of onboard systems and get the responce that the controler does not support this.Am I missing something?

    6.0 air test

I think the tip refers to manually applying voltage +and - to the oil pressure reg solenoid and then pressurize the system with shop air.

To perform the shop air test on the high pressure oil system without the IDS. Apply shop air pressure to one of the oil rails with the ignition off. Then wait until you can hear air escaping through the open IPR valve into the crankcase. Next turn the ignition to the run position, this will supply the IPR with a duty cycle of I believe 14%, more than enough to hold 110psi air pressure in the system.

Our shop has the Ford IDS and I can tell you that full duty cycle is not required to perform this test. Hope this helps.

10.2 software allows control of that solenoid, so you can open/close it, but as Ryan says, when you turn the key on the PCM commands the valve at 15%, which is plenty enough to hold 100psi air pressure for the test.
