Has anyones else tried this SSD drive update?
I am ready to do it, but I see a few glitches have been encountered.
Is the Corsair drive the common fault or is it something different?
Anyone else have luck with other brands of SSDs? I see OCZ has been tried.
Thanks!ScottComment

Intermittent booting and just general stopping.
Hello
Although I have not replaced my HD with an SSD unit yet, I have swapped my HD in and out a half dozen times, (roughly). I noticed after changing it the third time that it would occasionay not boot up properly and somtimes freeze as if the processor was having difficuty reading/writing to then HD. I figured the drive was defective so I replaced it again and it seemed to work fine for a few days. Then it stared to act up in the same manner as before. It also seemed to be temperature sensitive. I don;t remember if it was better or worse hot just it was different. I ended up removing the SATA cable and switching it around end to end. I figured the cable connections coud have been comprimised by all the swapping. Since that time it has been working great and is significantly faster. So it could be just the cable or connections.

Hd Upgrade
I had upgraded my Verus Drive to a 180gb drive but not a SSD type. I think I will though soon. I had a Question though. When I cloned the original drive to the new one. it all went ok and I used MaxBlast free software from the internet. I worked and cloned fine. I did notice that when I tried to run a system restore at start-up by pressing the left Alt key, I was never able to get it to load with the new drive, it would just continue to load normal windows. Its like the secondary drive image from the original drive was not copied at all. It showed the Full drive capacity on drive D: where the system image is stored. has any one ran or have this issue? or is it just something with the 10.4 upgrade? or it didn't clone properly since there is 2 partitions on the drive? By the way I did downgrade back to the original HD that still had 9.4 installed. I just got sick of 10.4..The system Restore works fine with the original drive?Hard Work, commitment, Honesty and not giving up is what Makes us better Tech's

You have now seen what has happened when cloning with a program OTHER than Paragon. That is who S.O. chose to handle the restore image of the Verus. I too ran across this, and tried a few things, and the only way to do a REAL clone with the origanal restore partition was to download a trial of Paragon's software. HTH.S. BrelandComment

I tried with 11.2 and Acronis, was hoping to lower internal temps for the summer months here in Vegas, wasent able to get it to boot after SSD or RAM upgrade, tried together, them SSD only , then RAM only, no good, I dont remember exact error message but was system has detected internal hardware change, needed to get back on line so I restored it to original config."I wanna help the helpless, but I could careless about the clueless". I stuffed an Intel 40 giger in there, and it worked nice, a bit faster, but I was disappointed when I learned that Intel's SSD toolbox does not support Serial Attached Storage controllers, therefore it won't work. This means that the SSD can't have it's garbage collection work right, and since XP does not support TRIM, it would eventually fill up and bog down, despite running disk cleanup. More info is on the Web for those interested. If any of you are using the OCZ brand please respond if you have a utility that works as TRIM. I would also point out that my battery life increased about 2 hrs with the SSD installed. HTH.S. BrelandComment

SSD Upgrade
Well I finally found a decent price on a SSD drive with the capacity I wanted. I had previously upgraded the memory and replaced the HD with a 500GB unit to accomodate the DVDs from Alldata and MOD5. So I was able to purchase a 512GB SSD manufactured by Crucial. The unit was used and I paid $750.00 for it. After purchasing the unit on E-Bay the seller informed me the unit was defective and offered to sell me a new unit for the same price. I received it in the factory sealed box, did the clone and installed it with a new SATA cable. The boot up time and Verus suite load went from 4 minutes and 20 seconds to under 3 minutes and the unit runs significanty cooler as well. The data manager loads recordings much faster. All in all I am very happy with the upgrade. Been running this setup now for two weeks with no issues. Also running 10.4.4
I am looking for some tweaks that might improve the speed even more.Comment

Did you upgrade the ram too??? What software did you use to clone your original drive???Well I finally found a decent price on a SSD drive with the capacity I wanted. Good to see people still trying to do this and the updates from people who have done it.Comment

Everything is helpfull. Looking into this for the future.
Has any one posted a step by step of what to copy and how to find it???
One of these days I will figure out how to properly clone a hard drive.
Seems I didn't do something correctly on my latest laptop so when the hard drive crashed (luckily under warranty) there were a few things I had to reinstall and other things that I lost all together...
