How did you "install" it? As in did you clone, copy, or backup the HDD to SSD? Did you make the SSD "Active"? This procedure typically goes as follows: Take SSD and install into another computer (Win 7 is easiest). Using Windows Management console, select your SSD, select "New simple volume", create primary partition, then mark as "active", no need to format. I recommend making a "backup" image of you Verus primary partition, with something like Acronis T, or Paragon (this is the default software Snappy uses in the system restore feature), then restore the backup image to the SSD. It's been a long while since I performed this operation, so I hope I have it right. HTH.

Yes, they have the BIOS locked on this version of Verus, so no booting from outside peripherals. Your version of software makes no difference.

I have some ideas I haven't tried yet but intend to.
If you have any solutions you don't mind sharing, I'd appreciate it.

i know when i did mine you have to be careful you don't unpluged the wire connectors under the unit they unplug real easy. look and make sure you look at all the coonectors. i just lifted mine up just a little and they came unpluged. i copied my harddrive first with the copying software that was made for my ssd drive. and it worked fine.

it could be copying software. i had a computer shop try to do mine they couldn't get it to work. so i bought the ssd coping software and it work for me.

                    Versus Image needed

Can anyone help me out with a image, my hard disk died, I have a new solid state drive but cant get my image off the dead drive.Or if someone can advise me on how to go about getting a new image. You would think with the cost of these scanners they would come equipped with solid state hard disks.

                      Image

                      Good Day

I'm pretty sure the software is licensed to the specific hardware of the motherboard. In otherwords if you clone the drive and try and install it in a different Verus it will not run so someone elses image would not work either.

Maybe someone else can confirm this.

I was able to clone my drive with dd under linux. Once the image is copied, install the drive and turn on, simple as that. As far as I know my image would work on another verus pro but it's registered to me. If I send it to someone else wouldn't there be two of me? The key is to make a backup before the drive fails.

If the owner of the failed Verus had a backup of their license file, then they could use an image, just replace the license file from the image with their own. And yes, one should ALWAYS do a regular backup!

Can you dual boot a Verus in Ubuntu ?

On the subject of Linux . I would think if you could download and burn an image of Ubuntu 12.10 and install by selecting to have it running side by side with XP. On start up you get about 5 seconds to choose to move the down arrow and enter Ubuntu or it boots in Windows by default. You could use Ubuntu with Firefox browser to access internet and your favorite websites without the worry of having to run antivirus software because it is Linux based and Virus resistant. Also I was able to determine using Ubuntu's disk Utility that my hard drive health on my desktop PC , though showing a green dot, reports that it has a few bad sectors, and any bad sectors on a hard drive of an expensive diagnostic system is unacceptable and will cause errors or crashes sooner or later. If you could conclusively show Snap On that your Verus hard drive has bad sectors on it while still under a factory warranty without putting a screw driver to it , wouldn't you try to get a replacement or $ credit to replace it yourself with a SSD if they OK it?

The 5 seconds can be adjusted when it's first set up. You're saying to "DUAL BOOT" the computer, or multiboot the computer (and that goes all the way back to DOS days....ROFLMAO)
