    Heavy Duty Truck Question

    Hello everyone,

I´m new to the forum and hope to find/give the support needed.

I have recently purchased a Verus with 10.4 software from a closing shop, I have been reading and watching videos regarding the capabilities of this tool, amazing!.

I was asked yesterday if its posible for me to diagnose heavy duty trucks (class 8) with the verus, I have seen the software on google for the Modis device, but coulnt find it for the Verus, is there an addon from snap on that covers HD trucks?

I appreciate any advise given. thanks

I don't believe heavy duty is offered for the Verus , however if you get the factory software for the manufacturer you work on and a Nexiq usb link interface then you can use the Verus for heavy duty. It definatly works good

HD software cannot be put on the Verus. I know a few customers that have put OEM HD stuff on their Verus, like the International software, but it is not without its problems.

If you're serious about working on Class 8 trucks, take a good look at the Nexiq iQ. If that doesn't do it for you, go OEM. Pricing on that can be significant though.

The HD Modis software doesn't speak the new HD Standard, J1939. The software won't be written for it. A new, better, and less expensive, alternative will be announced very soon.

I have never used or had the need for the HD software my self so I am not to familiar with it. But I am curious about it Because I am a Tool Junkey!!!

Some one mentioned it will be another scanner under the Blue Point name. Will it be a Nexiq product??? Doesn't Snap On own that company any way???

Thanks, I´ll be looking at the nexiq.

It would have been nice to have it on the verus.

Pocket iQ announced. At $1300.00 it is about $300.00 less than getting it added to a Modis, which is cool. This tool only does HD Stadnard, which is a bit like OBDII for Trucks. It is Codes and Data only, and the data stream is standardized, and pretty limited in some applications. It's pretty darn good in some others. If you are serious about fixing big trucks, get an iQ, or go OEM. If it's not your main focus, this is a pretty inexpensive solution to get Codes and Data from a big truck.
