The snap-on software should cover the isuzu and subaru lines, does it not?Here's my list of priorities in order.
1. Everyone is correct about reliability being top priority, and if necessary,
should come at the cost of anything else. Cool features and even coverage does you no good if the tool does not work
2. Restore ALL the features 10.4 and later took away from the Verus.
3. More complete pid coverage in the datastream of existing covered vehicles. I place this above bi directional controls because pids give you the direction to go to determine the problem
4.Isuzu and Suzuki and Subaru would be nice
5. More bi directional on existing covered cars
6. The hardware improvements mentioned. They are most likely already working on new hardware anyway, so we stand a better chance getting what we need if we tell them now.Comment

Hey Nick and Jake, according to the 11.4 VAG, Subaru still only has Generic data for most models. I would have to disagree that one could call that "coverage". Subaru may not be as strong of a presence as say Honda or Toyota, but they are catching on. At some point we will have to catch up.S. BrelandComment

You can tell the generation by the part number.
EEMS323 Gen1
EEMS325 Gen2
A Gen 3 Does not exists at this time.
Also when seen side by side the top of a Gen 1 unit has only 1 visible USB port and an area to connect a standard "Wired" scaner cable.
The top of a Gen 2 unit has 2 USB ports and no provission for "Wired" scanner cable.
Also on the right hand side of the unit next to the screen were the 4 I-cons that light up are, there is a slight visual difference in the I cons between the units.
Gen1 features a 600MHZ processor, 512 MB Ram, with 80 GB hard drive
Gen2 features a 1.6 GHZ processor, 1GB Ram, with 250 GB hard drive
The Gen 1 has a built in internal scan module that requires a cable and keys to comunicate with a vehical but has the option to add the Wirless kit. In order to add wireless option you must be running 10.4 or newer software in order to add it.
The Gen 2 Unit got rid of the internal scan module which freed up a 2nd USB port on the top of the unit and went to a wirless scan module that does not require any keys to comunicate. In the event of a wireless comunication issues, you can connect the wireless module with a USB cable . Some test features require the use of the USB cable so that you don't loose power to the module when the Key is cycled. The module is powered through the Cars DLC connector for OBD2 cars and The OBD1 adapters have a power adapter adaptor so they can be powered through the cigarette lighter or directly from a battery.Comment

Not EEMS325 does this mean you can still buy the slower processor Verus?

if you read my other posts before, I indicated I'm having troubles with an E bay seller.
It turns out we can not come to agreement, so I have to send my Verus back.
So I am asking these questions, to educate myself, to try and buy the latest
Verus out there. I can not afford $10,000 for a new one. That is why
I am looking for used one. I have good credit and may consider financing one
but I do not even have a snap-on guy to do business with. Long story short I got out of car bus
to go to college. Now I have this cool fancy degree and no job to go with it.
So thinking of getting back into the Automotive Bus again. I been fluent with
this stuff, so I still know how to work on them.Comment

There is nothing wrong with the 1st gen unit. I have both and you can barely tell the difference in terms of performance. The one thing I have noticed is that if you are having trouble with the wireless scan module you can switch back to the original key style cable because it still has the internal scan module. Some times this seems to be more benificial. Early on when I had trouble with the gen2 It was a 50/50 thing connecting the USB cable. there were a few software revisions from 10.4 to 10.4.4 that took care of some of the issues. the patches are free but that does not meen that all the issues are solved. I am still thinking the Gen1 might be a better deal. if your an electronics sort of guy you can always open it up down the road and upgrade those components. There is a thread floating for the verus were the guy did exactly that after his warranty expired.Comment
