Missing data for cylinders 5 and 6 2017 Challenger Hellcat.

Hi. Trying to diagnose rough idle/intermittent miss on a 2017 Challenger with Hellcat engine. I'm using a Zeus at version 24.2 and except for Mode 6 data, there are no PIDS for cylinders 5 and 6 though the other cylinders are active. I also tried our Apollo-D9 and found the same result. As I'm suspecting #5 as the culprit, this is most frustrating. Is this some sort of software glitch or known concern? Anything I can try?

Can you post a vin# so Snap on can check it out?

Or maybe you have a screen shot from Zeus that you can share with us showing the anomaly ?

HI. The VIN is: 2C3CDZC98HH607128. I don't have a screenshot at the moment; the car is outside, but stuff like What cylinder is missing? shows 1,3,7,2,4,8 only. I'll update this when I bring the car back in.

        Yes, Exactly.

A screen shot showing only the the ones present. That way they can see the error of their ways.... LOL

          #5
Here's 5 screen shots of various functions. #5 and #6 appear a couple of places but not where I need them.

Thank you so much. It does indeed appear to be missing.

Steve6911 can you send the report on this situation and mine as well in the Verus Forum?

Hi there! Just wanted to post an update: Our Snap-On equipment guy just happened to come by yesterday and I asked him about this issue. He called someone at Snap-On and after looking through their information, it sounds like this is a known concern which affects more vehicles than just the Challenger. He told us he believes that it will be corrected in an update scheduled for October.

                  1. Check for Software Updates: Since you're running Zeus at version 24.2, make sure there aren't any newer updates available that might address this specific issue with missing PIDs.

                  2. Try a Different Scan Tool; If possible, try using a different brand or type of scan tool to see if the PIDs for cylinders 5 and 6 are available. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the Snap-on software.

                  3. Check OBD2 Connections and Wiring: While less likely, there could be an issue with the wiring or communication lines related to those specific cylinders. Inspect the harness for any damage or loose connections, particularly around the PCM.

                  4. Manual Inspection of Cylinder #5: Since you're suspecting cylinder 5, try performing manual diagnostics like a compression test, spark plug inspection, or swapping coil packs and injectors between cylinders to see if the miss follows the component.

                  5. Mode 6 Data: As you're able to access Mode 6 data, look closely at misfire counts and any cylinder-specific data that could point you toward #5 or #6 being problematic, even if the PIDs are missing.

Let me know if any of these steps help or if you need more guidance!
