I just charged up the AC again this year on my sister's low mileage 2002 Thunderbird and can see the AC leak source as the seal oring behind a little football shaped metal plate. The gasket / Oring appears to be a specially shaped one, but I don't know if it's just a regular AC oring that gets pushed into the pear shaped groove and after many heat cycles ,just retains the pear shape memory or what ? Can't find one .Hate to replace a good working AC compressor for the want of an easily replaced external o-ring gasket at the back of it.Yes it does look to be like a crack along the bottom rear but the refrigerant oil is leaking from beneath the oval plate with 2 bolts
