Pear shaped gasket Just a regular oring worked into groove

I just charged up the AC again this year on my sister's low mileage 2002 Thunderbird and can see the AC leak source as the seal oring behind a little football shaped metal plate. The gasket / Oring appears to be a specially shaped one, but I don't know if it's just a regular AC oring that gets pushed into the pear shaped groove and after many heat cycles ,just retains the pear shape memory or what ? Can't find one .Hate to replace a good working AC compressor for the want of an easily replaced external o-ring gasket at the back of it.Yes it does look to be like a crack along the bottom rear but the refrigerant oil is leaking from beneath the oval plate with 2 bolts

Coat pear-ring in RTV and reinstall. Put a light film of RTV on block-off plate and bolt it down. Let the stuff cure overnight. Tell your sister that's going to have to work for now until you can locate this unicorn o-ring at the end of the rainbow. Or fork over the chedda for another compressor.

I ordered a Santech MT1090 (Package of 5 control plate gaskets for Sanden Scroll) from Autozone. Was on the phone with a rep from an AC supply company and that pear shaped gasket should be a Santech MT1090 that Autozone should list as available .I search Santech MT1090 and Autozone site displays picture of incorrect part, but description sounds correct, so I took a $12 gamble and see what I get.

No I'm sure you would do the same, hope this helps a few more folk get a few more years out of an otherwise good AC compressor.
