I thought i might have my first module to program last week. I am finding out though that i may not be able to and wanted advise from the flash veterans. Its a 2005 Mustang 6cyl, auto. It needs a new SJB or smart junction box which is in the passenger kick panel. After reading all i could about the process here is what i found:
Using the "Drew toolbox" and navigating to flashing, Ford, and then info, i read that modules on the medium speed network (which this is according to Shop Key) are not supported using Ford module programming (FMP). Then going to nastf.org and downloading the list of ford programmable modules, i did not find the SJB. After checking Snap On's website for the Modis's 10.4 application list it does not appear that the Modis can replace this module. We did access the data using the "gem" data (i think) when diagnosing this car earlier this week.
The r+r instructions for this module on shop key is very hard to decipher. It tells you to retrieve and download info from module into tool then back into new module. Then suggests a link to the pages regarding general "module configuration" which discusses 3 different types of module programming. In this section it lists the SJB as one that can be programmed a few different ways including calibration update. Yet this is not offered by Ford. Can the Modis do this? If FMP doesnt offer this and the Modis can not, is this strictly a function of the factory Ford tool? Has anyone ever done one of these types of modules? Do i have to let the dealer do the entire job?
