solus pro no comunication dodge ABS

I wasted a lot of time today on a 2000 dodge truck with an ABS light on and a check eng. light. I could not communicate with the ABS module, the ECM had a po500 vss code. So I checked the vss in the trans it seemed to be working but I changed it anyway. Same problem. I couldn't find out why my scanner wouldn't communicate with the ABS. I had another dodge truck a 98 so I took the ABS module from that and tried it in the 2000, still the same problem So I put everything back and tried my solus pro on the 98 I couldn't communicate with that one too I tried an OTC genesis 2.0 on it and it gets in to the ABS and tells me I have a code for the ABS sensor in the diff. I change the sensor in the diff. clear the code all lights go out and everything is fine. I can't believe my solus pro that cost over $3000 dollars can not get in to a 98 or 2000 dodge ABS system I'm not happy at all, if I had used the genesis first I would have had the truck done in 45 minutes and out the door I'm thinking about getting rid of my solus pro and getting a genesis, at lest the genesis can get ABS codes from a dodge !!!!

I know you're a little PO'ed right now but let me assure you that the Solus is the superior tool here. I can guarantee you that there is plenty that the Genesis can't do, if your ticked off with the Solus then you will be royally pissed with the Genesis after a very short while. I had both at the shop for a demo at the same time and the Solus won hands down. There is no aftermarket scan tool that can do it all so you may as well get the best you can , right now that is a Solus Pro or a Modis.

Since 1998 the speed sensor mounted on the trans is only for governor pressure calculation, not vehicle speed. That is done from the rear WSS in the ABS. The Solus is built with almost the same functionality as the factory tool in that ABS system so something is wrong somewhere. Did you try a different key? Even though you could comm with the PCM the ABS uses a different set of pins on the OBD II connector to talk to the ABS module. If the truck is still there, and you can get a different K13 key, give that a try.

What version software are you running if you still have 7.4 (I think) there was a patch to fix that communication problem.

I used the key my solus pro told me to. I didn't know that in 98 and up dodge started getting vss signal from rear abs wheel speed sensor. I did not find that out until I used the genesis and it told me that, I wish my solus pro would have told me that !!

I have the latest update I think its 8.4. I still don't understand why my solus pro doesn't comm. with the ABS on a dodge, if it was an Asian car I would understand

Did you call tech support? 800-332-2526

They would be able to tell you whether it is available, which it should be, and what may need to be done to correct your problem....

Did you try another K13 like Skip suggested? They can fail and cause communication problems.

Your SolusPro should comm with that truck. Something is broken somewhere. I'm sure the owner of the $30,000.00 truck wasn't happy it broke either. If things didn't break, we would all be doing do something else for living. A different key or cable is the first place to start. They are the biggest wear items and often get tossed around the shop like a pair of pliers.

I tried another 13 key today and still no comm. My solus pro is only a year old and I take good care of it, the cable shouldn't be bad already. But I guess its possible the cable could be bad, it will comm. with the engine and trans computer, but will not comm. with the air bag or the ABS. I tried getting in to the body computer it showed data for a few seconds then went to no comm. Is it possible something is wrong with my scanner if so how do I fine out ?? This is the only time I've had a problem with it ( on a dodge ) I have used it on other makes and it seams to work fine, why would I have a problem only on a dodge.

The only guys that know of there is a problem with a specific vehicle is Tech Support. Call them at 800-332-2526. If you tried another K13, I think that's your next move....unless you can get your hands on anotjer scanner. Any chance your Dealer has one you can try for a minute?

called tech, the guy I talked to said he thinks there was a problem with the software, and there might be a I think he said "patch" for it. He asked when my dealer comes in I told him friday, I hope my dealer can fix this. Has anyone heard of this problem with the software ?? I guess this " patch " is something my dealer can load in to my solus pro, at least I hope so. I checked my solus pro and it has the 8.2 software, I hope I don't have to buy the 8.4 to fix this problem, I work in a small used car dealer and this is my scaner that I got myself and I really don't have the $$ to get the 8.4. Again if anyone knows about this let my know, Thanks.

OK so I was off 1 release, and you did not have the current update like you stated . You will not be able to communicate with some GM ABS also the patch was free before 8.4 I don't know if you will need to buy 8.4 or you can just get the patch.
