Check the cooler to see if it's plugged or restricted. That could have caused the bad pump bushing, and the leak.

Read somewhere awhile back of a ground issue on a (I don't remember what vehicle), causing an arc at the converter bushing, which in turn would cause it to spin lose and ruin the seal. Just a thought.

Does the bell housing have a vent in it or going to it. I can't recall maybe it was a ford that had this issue but it would vent inside a cavity in the bell housing and look like the converter but if you looked in side with a mirror it was dry as a bone...

I believe I have also heard of the arcing issue causing the bushing to spin.

Did you reuse the Pump Bolts??? If so did they have little o-rings on them??? If so look closely and see if its leaking from one of those.
