It seems the Zerex brand of Dexcool claims to meet the Ford standards. Gotta have a degree in chemistry to understand this stuff and 25 types of coolant on the shelf. http://www.valvoline.com/pdf/zerex_dex_cool.pdf

It doesnt meet it though....it meets D, not D2. D2 is backward compatible to D filled vehicles, D isnt forward compatible to D2 vehicles.

Look in the owners manual of the vehicle in question, if it requires D2 only put D2 in it.

If the vehicle is under warranty use the factory recommended coolant because you don't want to create any ways for them to get out of doing the repairs on all the pot metal alloy and plastic fantastic **** that they call a modern cooling system, on most modern cars. European cars requiring the most expensive exotic fluids seem to have the most cooling system problems . Plastics has replaced a lot of metal in recent years , it don't corrode but it sure degrades, weakens , crumbles and cracks and I don't care what you use, and how often you flush it after 10 years , some plastic quick connect, some plastic trans cooler, some plastic degas bottle, some plastic intake gasket is going to take a sh@t and fail and Barf all your pretty blue pricey BMW spec coolant all over your driveway and it will eventually leak full synthetic Mini oil worse than any rusty 95 F-150, so you might as well just get it all out and put in Universal Long life Autozone Brand extended life for $12.99 a gallon because you know well now that your $60k EuroTurd deserves no more special treatment than any other $2500 Beater and more likely than you, it will flush it's own coolant again in less than 30k with the next part that will blow out. LMFAO

Antifreeze is antifreeze. They add their special incredients and colores. Big deal..

They really need to focus on quit using mattel plastic anywhere hot waters can touch it. Engines only last til the coolant falls out.

I can't believe that they would make something the same colour as Dexcool and then tell you that it was incompatible. What, are all the good colours taken ? But then this is Ford

Its definitely a Ford thing....GM in North America uses 1 coolant. Gas, diesel, CNG, LPG, hybrid, electric it doesnt matter,Dexcool end of story. Ford uses 4 or 5. WTH.

I think it's High Time for new OBD 3 regulations and have Technician Tribunals of engineers to simplify and get rid of all these funky Mystery spec lubricants and fluids and funky proprietary tools that manufacturers engineers intentionally create to make the non dealer level service of their vehicles miserable. Maybe if I drank a 6 pack of Heine and were to take a long pee in 3/4 filled up $19.99 jug of pure Motorcraft Gold GL5 it would bring it up to Beemer 9177jizmprizm spec GL5 ? If engineering changes are seen as positive improvements for servicing , thumbs up, but if they are seen as unnecessary, overly complicated , ambiguous, or just plain being a PITA,thumbs down and no go for production or at least sale in the USA.
When is the BS ever going to end?

When the Automotive Industry (or heaven forbid, the government) implements enforceable standards for the vehicle manufacturers, the repair facilities and the people working in the trade, in the form of licensing, and certifications for a SKILLED TRADE, the same way plumbers and electricians are licensed and held accountable for their actions.
The S.A.E does exist, but that doesn't stop the really dumb-arse ideas from proliferating because the engineers are NOT held accountable for Ron White's favorite line..... you can't fix........

Has anyone seen a MIG welding tip that has a sharp 90 degree or better turn for welding in tight spots, exhaust, etc.

Greeze, those 110 volt wire welders usually have a heap turn on them. .023 wire do good on thin stuff. Mine is Miller 251 w/.035 wire.

Can you weld with mirror to see the top ? Around corners ? Doesn't do the mirror much good. A small roller tip would keep it from binding and turn it 180 degrees. Never seen one though.
