Dr Jake.. are you trying to say you put a heater core in an 02 F150 and had it running and gone in 45 minutes... now if it was a Super Duty I would say possible.. but a F150.. I want to call BS. I NEED that trick.. I beat the book by 2 hours and that is doing it in 3.0 Please elaborate!

Call and ask him: 1-864-640-0794 I'm not big on lying. He say his mechanic wanted 750.

I haven't videoed my new way of doing this. Been experimenting. May do a video on the next one and it will be 45 minutes long this time. I replaced the selector bushings while the column was so exposed at no charge waiting on Kyle to finish his side.

I told this customer on phone to be there a few minutes before 5 and he could leave at 6. He was in it and leaving at 5:45 o'Clox. Call him.

        Ore Google: Heater Core F150
        Ore Googler: Heater Core Patriot

ps....I got people coming here from 3 states to get er done. Ordering parts 10 at a time to get the price down. I gotts the big head. hehehehe http://youtu.be/3tFcB53krnI
ps....This also includes expeditions, need about 2 minutes to remove that console on those. 2 minutes is a long time. Y'ULL need all that time. We gets and extra 50 dollar for them 2 minutes x 2.

This has finally reached the point that I am over being upset, I can only laugh, and try again.
Maybe VW has some sort of engine program for owners of problematic turds?

I have a 2005.5 MK5 Jetta. It has a grand total of 71k miles on it. The CEL recently came on, and through a P0016 error. Cam and Crank timing sensors reporting an error. I took it in. Well, the timing chain has totally worn down the gear on the intake cam shaft. The tensioner is all the way out...

It is out VERY quick, not gonna lie. Impressive. BUT......

Its not out in 12 minutes...in either of the 2 videos I watched of yours LOL
I was right there with Scott calling ********, and we were also correct...its probably not possible possible for one guy to do this in 45 minutes.(I dont think you ever mentioned it was 2 guys)EDIT: just saw post from previous page....you did.

Couple things keeping this from being a legit record in my mind

Youve got the truck in the bay, opened up and ready.

Youve got a helper. (More than a helper another mechanic clearly skilled at this job)

Youve got all your tools and parts ready and waiting in the truck.

You didnt clean up after you cut off the heater core pipes in the truck.

Why do you have so many F150 bad heater cores ? They leakers or just plugged ? You got low ph water ? Lots of iron ?

I think the heater cores don't go bad very often , but are just an Upsell since the dash is out to replace the sh@tty broken blend doors, so you might as well put in a brand new heater core while you're in there, LOL. I would think the Evaporators could be done in an extra 15 minutes too. Go to a Ford Blue Oval Round Table and brag and show em how to beat the book time and they'll give you a $100 Tool Certificate and a Atta Boy pat on the back and they'll pay MOD, and Chilton $ to reduce the book time for everyone at least another hour. LMFAO

It is possible for 1 human being to remove said item in 17 minutes.
Here is the perhaps the proof..-->> http://youtu.be/r2B-EWFvMv8

He is in Winston Salem,NC. We text/talk every week. He gets mohr practice than me.

Me, tha Flock, we getting these jobs from my Youtube Commerical and from 3 different states. They all were leaky leak. We toss in the blend door while we have it's drawers down.

I have absolutely no concern about the book time. I am perfectly happy to make 150 dollars an hour having fun. It's not heavy, or hurts to do it.

The ones that I have done by myself in the yrs past took about half a day. Never close to 7 hours. I was doing it about all wrong. Until I saw Charlie C do one very recently, I was still taking way too much shite aloose. And he is now taking too much aloose. I have proved to him, my way is the better way. He has modified his procedure.

We are planning a new video in which Flock is going to hold the camera for me and I'm going to hold it for him. That video will get to the nitty gritty on exactly every move/screw you take loose.

And yes, you need more time than the video shows. To get ya tools into position, talk to customer, and so forth. You want me show walking back forth to get tools. Really don't need much. Tell ya what, next video have that part too...ok

Me and Charlie are planning to get together and make a video where the core gets tossed out in 10 minutes. Dare anyone in the world to beat us. I'm am still learning....but soon we get together and doit.

Have you gotten any area shops to "farm" them out to you yet ? You got it going, a repeatable job that most would rather not get involved with. Not a DIY job for most.

Grease, any shop close would be a mortal enemy...However, Napa wants me to make a flyer to put in store. Abouts this.

If me and another me can doit that fast and the guy in NC can, thays something wrong with the 7 hour thing, yes.?

It equals people not having the right info to do it. I didn't have the right info. The guy in NC has made a few changes.

Wouldn't the correct info on the procedure be helpful x many thousands of mechanics. I dare you or anyone to prefect this procedure from what we are doing as of the last 2 we done. I am confident that Step1 is remove driver's seat now. And do not remove the column or the wires going to it. I believe nobody removes that seat and that is what screws up the rest of it. If you don't remove seat, the column wont not get out of the way enough.
With seat gone, I have plenty room to work arms and lay column down.
That is a mistake I have made over and over and over. Many yrs of ignorant me is..

If ya remove drivers seat and lay column down. Hell that's about it rat there.
3 screws after the lay down and 1 10mm close to door. The other side is about nothing really. Couple bolts at windshield, 2 grounds at bottom, disconnect a few wires, get ant wire pulled aloose at bottom of dash. 2 bolts and 1 screw holds the air bag to expose 2 screws behind it and 1 above it.

Its beautiful, i in love wididitt. And Flock, and Charlie C. I going spread the love in next video. The feature film HOW TO from Jerkwaters. Thays enough in the few sentences above to not need a video onit. Everybody should consider this gravy. I think the secret to any heater core is don't not be doing by yo self. Motor jobs too. Make friends and quit doing every thing solo. Get help, split the hours. 2 hogs eat better than 1. Takes 2 to make knatbutter but only 1 to get it back off. hehehe

Why should another shop not give it to you to fix. There is probably enough room left at the top for them to make a $100 without lifting a finger. When they figure the flat rate on this they allow for some learning time, a mistake or two and a smoke or pee break ? Not every shop has an alignment rack or a tranny specialist or a flasher or the right scanner. Things get " farmed out" all the time, why not this ?

DrJake, I actually do take the seat out, always have ever since the first one I did, outside in my in-laws driveway in 20F weather. It was a regular cab and the seat was stuck too close to dash for me so it only made sense.

Same for just hanging the column, I dont take them out of truck. I also do hold the dash back with a strap like you do. Im still clearly taking much more apart than you do because Ive never beat around 2:15, my normal is probably 2:40-2:45. But Im working alone so ALLL the moneez is minez.

Mavens, about 45 minutes x 2 is probably speedy. 2 hrs is speedy. You already there mate. Leave the cluster/headlight sw in. No move brackets at bottom. 2 screws into bracket on left 1 screw on rt side bracket. Only take the screws what goes into that metal pipe that goes across the inside. Get that duct (1 screw) on rt side at top. That helps. We not all that fast after all, just videoing it. And talking about it. I get Mr Fast here from NC to do one, I will try to put on more speed.
