yeah, kind of leaning in the direction of a tranny problem. The "misfire" might be it shuttling between gears. I haven't had much of chance to examine these yet.Comment

greasy, don't know the system but could it be the pcm shutting down cly. for a speed reason. Rented a 15 pass ford van to take guys to fire school a few years back and when we it 80 the van started shutting down like a miss, but ran great under 80. When we returned the van the guy smerked and asked how fast we were going? He said their Vans were programed to do that. Gust got a 13 escape in that our driver said a warning chime started after 75 and at 80 through the radio a voice warning came across saying max speed met and wouldnt go any faster. Didn't belive him untill I drove it. found in the "my key" option the driver had that programed in.I've tried and tried, but can't seem to fix stupid!Comment

Area of concern. The lock up pid is off when this is occurring and no shifts are commanded but you can see a little action on the throttle position. Not sure why. You need shop stream for this kind of stuff. Not safe to watch your scanner when speeding like this.Attached FilesComment

A better look. Notice engine load goes up as when the RPM drops out.Attached FilesComment

This is a CLASSIC EXAMPLE of using Shop Stream Connect-!!
You can drag-n-drop the pids in the left column so the related pids are all together. I like to have them stacked one above the other, then pull the frame selector across to see exactly which one was a few frames ahead of the others. Easy to see cause and reaction that way.
Then get the scope out and confirm what the scanner picked up. Bingo, diagnosis done.
Too many people treat the symptom instead of the root cause.
Kudos to SnapOn for having SSC available AND all the improvements in the last few years.
Anybody who doesn't take advantage of the SSC program should have a "slap upside the head"..
..(just kidding...)

Anyone using SSC without any issues on a Windows 10 PC?
Does the program have an option on installation where it won't appear on the start menu of the pc and always run in the background and cause delays on shutting down the pc ?
Does the program stay shut off until you actually want to turn it on? If so , when you decide to run it, does it in anyway, know, interact with, or send info about other programs you may run on your PC, or your browsing habits, etc?Last edited by Witsend; 11-18-2015, 08:55 AM.Comment

Not that I've come across and I've had several versions on several laptops & desktops.Anyone using SSC without any issues on a Windows 10 PC?
Don't know about Win-10 but who cares. It runs fine on any version of XP, Vista, and Win-7. I stayed clear of Win-8 and Win-10 is too "new" and I'll let others be Microsoft's guinea pigs

Installed the new plug and a new coil this morning, got it hot and ran it down the road a ten miles or so under as much of a load as I could give it. The plug stayed put, so far so good. This is an F250 and customer regularly pulls a camper so I should know soon enough if the fix is good. The thread adapter went in pretty hard so maybe it got a good enough bite on the head. I've seen the heli coils blow out before too, so I don't know that there is a sure fix other than a new head. It looks like Ford has a recommended thread saver but then they built this thing in the first place so their recommendations come with a bit of doubt too.Comment

On a side note, how much pressure do you think is built up in the cylinder on the compression cycle on a naturally aspirated engine ? (in PSI). Is the pressure constant through the whole cycle ? Could you figure out torque if you multiplied the surface area of the piston by the PSI ? Piston speed and the angle of the rod on the crank always change but maybe you could average it.Comment
