Never mind Brett, I think I figured everything out on this one. I should have kicked it out the door like the rest. This one was a great customer's granddaughter's car. Ran fine when she parked it, next morning no start, no compression 122K. Towed here, sat in lot for 2 days, oil slick on the ground. Oil leaks are from lower timing cover and vacuum pump. Pulled cam sensor, saw intake cam was not turning. Read many forums about bad chains so video bore scoped and saw no marks on the pistons. Sold the job, ordered the tools. After Trans and vacuum pump removal, saw through the hole that the chains were intact. Removed upper timing cover and valve cover, found only intake cam not moving, and the bolt was loose. This is when I posted the question. Now, Cams removed, no scoring, decided to do cylinder leak test, 3 of 5 were over 80% loss through intake. After a couple taps on the intake valves, now less than 20% all through the rings. Now that everything is apart, I see almost no wear on any of the guides. I can only assume that the chains have been replaced by the Honda dealer she recently bought it from, and someone did not properly torque the cam phaser bolt. This has been a brutal learning experience, the customer wanted the oil leaks addressed also, so not a total loss. I just hope these tools go along with some of the others I have bought. Use once, never again.

Chevrolet(and possibly others) offered vacuum operated ashtrays in the 50's.... pushbutton transmissions are coming back so why not?

Had a friend who had an extra reservoir under his hood that he filled with jack daniels and had a washer pump with a hose ran to the inside of his truck so he could mix his drinks covertly.....

I think a bag of white powder sucked from ashtray into the engine and burned in the exhaust might restore ring seal and lost compression , while you are watching the cop parked behind you stagger back to your vehicle with the ticket he already forgot what he was writing it about. That's what they would call Mechanic in the Can.

Is there someway that we could at least get some photos of the repair procedures added to the PRO ? There are OEM illustrations for a lot of things but a good clear photo would be a lot better. The illustrations seem to get blurred when you expand them. If we post them as TIPs in S/T with instructions of what they correspond to, will they make it to the PRO ? I feel a lot more useful adding information and repair techniques than trying to answer questions on S/T.

You think that they using focus groups, market research, and throwing dice to tell them what a mechanic finds useful rather than asking a real grunt with dirty finger nails . Or maybe someone worried bout there job if we do it for them.

Greasy they must adhere to agreements w/OE. Cartoons ONLY. I said NO. Now that's it. I not want to keep argueing on this shite.

Maybe I just start running a "Pictures of the Week" feature here on the GD. With charts and graphs and maybe a spiroglyphic or two of course.

GreaseyB, Car Data Pro ll is a tool. It hurts to use it. Always have, always will. The fix to make it painless is simple, but the politics and dignity would never allow that. The data must be wrong where it's wrong. You would have to cover every pot hole in the road with a pixture. That is not going to happen. We must QUIT thinking about this. We can't fix what can't be fixed. Wrong or misleading info is good. It is the way, the life, and the pain we must endure doing this work. Put this on the back burner, cover it and shut up. It's the beauty, the speed, and the smarts to getting to said info that really counts. Not the meat. Appreciate the great colores and shite...hehehe
Don't you get it.? Greasy you gonna wind up bout as unwelcome as I am messing with the taboo parts. If ya loose 1/2 day for nothing, just charge your customer and BE HAPPY. Or just jump in some ice waters. Remember, this is a tool that hurts you. Most of our tools will hurt you esp this. I've spent the last 40 years fixing things. Lots of things. I can't fix this. You can't.
Might as well just give up. A boot in the arse is the pay for continueing. Car Data Pro ll is just one thing to wreck your day, there are many more if that doesn't work.

Hey Greasy, how ya like my thumbnail on this last video I made/uploaded last night. I look at it and can't stop laughing. His wife almost throwed a wreck and asked what the hell wrong with him!!! I think it's my fault. Just wanted some new pictures. Didn't even tell what kind. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Whatever is wrong with Tim is wrong with me too. Does it make you laugh? Or throw a wreck? It look like Nick..no? ****...that doesn't show the thumbnail. Let me figure out what does. https://www.youtube.com/user/Jakepayne99

Some day we'll get the tips back into the procedures. All of the ones from the old product are still in there. It would be up to the techs in the field to add them but as you know, not many did in the old system.
